Curriculum

Children are given time to become deeply involved in learning about their world.

Victoria  has its own learning framework, the VEYLDF – alongside the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Victoria uses the same content from 0-5  and adds some extra to link with VELS for the early years of school.

The title of the EYLF – Belonging, Being and Becoming – states what the curriculum in early childhood should be: it’s the child, their growth, development, learning and wellbeing.

Learning at kinder aims to connect with learning in other places,  in the home, and family  and in the community. At Ouyen  we provide a balance of emergent curriculum (arising from the children’s interests and experiences), and adult-guided extension and support for children as they develop their 100 Languages of investigation, exploration, creativity and communication. We aim to help them to develop the vital learning dispositions that will enable them to be effective and capable learners in a range of new and different environments. (Mind in the Making, Ellen Galinsky.)  The leading activity of children in this age group is Make-Believe Play; learning is holistic and creative and the foundations for early literacy and numeracy are laid in everyday interactions , explorations and communications.

Families are a vital part of their children’s learning and we want to work with them for the best possible outcomes for their child.
