Our Environment

We are struggling to keep some green in the face of ongoing drought conditions.

We’re  in the Victorian Mallee – where it is hot for a lot of the year and sunny for the rest of the year! We take Sunsmart procedures very seriously – we  trust that parents and families will also get on board with this important health message – and go to the Sunsmart website http://www.sunsmart.com.au/default.asp to check out the daily UV rating during the May to August period – over the remaining months we should just assume that it will be high and we should take precautions….

Children are active learners within their social and physical environment. The kinder environment should be rich in possibilities – attractive, interesting, flexible, considered and deeply grounded in the natural world. The drought and severe water restrictions, as well as all the publicity about climate change, are providing us all with the motivation to think much more seriously about the choices we make in our use of resources. Education for sustainability starts in early childhood!

  1. Thankyou for this new way to share in Tim’s kiinder year. While whoever’s doing the pick up can look at the journal, this way the whole family has a better chance on checking in with him on what’s been happening. We look forward to more tales from the sandpit and will talk with Timothy about the Arctic animals.
