We had a special morning tea on Thursday. May is the month for community groups all around Australia to get together and have a morning tea fundraiser for the Anti- Cancer Council –ย ย which is also a lovely social time for participants….so we thought we would do that too.
We made healthy chocolate balls… (well, they did have lots of weetbix in them!)
and fruit and vegie sticks (we did a survey to find out which were the most popular fruits and vegies – definitely apple and watermelon)
Some children worked out a pattern…
but everyone enjoyed making their own sticks… and then eating them.
We also had warm milo in special cups (Turkish coffee glasses, very stylish), and pouring our own refills was especially popular.
So much focussed attention and engagement – and we felt really good about being able to give some money to the doctors for the sick people.
Children really do enjoy doing ‘real’ work don’t they? Preparing food is always a very popular activity with young children and pouring their own drinks from a teapot … well, that’s very grown up indeed!

We aim to acquire enough pretty little plates to enable everything to be “real” in future, but, yes, using the teapots was the big hit ๐
