The blog has been silent for a few weeks as I battled my internet connection and then went away – to New Zealand to visit some kinders over there. Funky came with me and had a wonderful time with the hospitable kiwis.

It was a wonderful opportunity to witness what happens with high quality provisions and teacher support in place – a ratio of 1 adult to 10 children, all staff are trained teachers, an inspiring early childhood learning framework – and fantastic resources including inviting outside learning and playing spaces. The learning, engagement and sense of harmony was palpable. What a fantastic start these young kiwi children are getting to their formal educational experiences.
